Please differentiate the dog from the place: the Belgium project will need the place for the monastery in due course. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.65.172.144 (talk) 00:53, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Appearance
editI'm not sure how to articulate this exactly, perhaps someone can help - or put me in my place if I am wrong!
The text on appearance has the sound and tone of a kennel club breed standard. Now, that's as close as there is to being a breed standard I suppose, but is it the place of Wikipedia to simply parrot the AKC/CKC line? I suppose it is a POV issue, but, for example, an article on the U.S. Army would not simply cut 'n paste text from the U.S. Army website or allow Starbucks to write the section on the company. I guess that's what my concern is - that the institutional understanding is not the same as the encyclopaedic, or at least not necessarily.
I guess the key word is 'should.' If it is from a kennel club text, should it not specifically state that, and not just as a footnote? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.66.121.160 (talk) 18:49, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
I'm back. It struck me what's bugging me. I think that the encyclopedia approach is DESCRIPTIVE, rather than PRESCRIPTIVE. Am I correct in that? What is, as opposed to what ought to be? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.66.121.160 (talk) 18:53, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
