Zigzag transformer is one type of grounding transformer and the two articles could usefully be combined for a more comprehensive presentation of the topic. --Wtshymanski (talk) 18:52, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

Well, they do have a certain overlap, but they aren't really the same thing:

• Zigzag transformers are often used as service transformers, particularly in European-style LV networks. Yz5 is a relatively common connection for MV/LV transformers up to ~250 kVA, e.g. [1] [2] (p. 196)
• Grounding transformers for MV networks are often Ynd – while zigzag is better suited for the job, utilities often have a spare Yd in stock, and adapting them for the job turns out to be cheaper. (AFAICT, grounding transformers are basically a hack used when a network originally designed as isolated neutral undergoes a redesign; I don't think people normally design the networks that way from scratch).

Further, I think that Zigzag transformer is a misnomer – zigzag is just a type of winding connection, that should be treated along with delta and wye. The latter two are currently treated in Three-phase electric power#Balanced circuits and to a lesser extent in Vector group; I think they should better be split to a separate article.
