Group Chat
editNot sure how this series should be handled... I've already moved the article itself (and updated the article accordingly) to Group Chat with Jayden & Brent, but should it be handled as a new series or returning season in places like this template? Here's the press release from today- it seems like they are announcing it as if its a brand new series and new season at the same time... ("the premiere of Group Chat with Jayden and Brent", "The first season of "Group Chat,""). This seems like it would be the same case as the series Live with Kelly and Ryan where the host and/or co-host is changing throughout the run. Magitroopa (talk) 19:05, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
- FTR, I don't think I support this. The article should be probably be at Group Chat (talk show) (with redirects from the current and former title to this). This is similar to something like The Late Show (franchise), where you have one show, but multiple different "hosts" over time. In the case of Group Chat, it doesn't rise to the level of "franchise" so I think Group Chat (talk show) is a good middle ground. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 19:57, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
- I'm perfectly fine with whatever, Group Chat (talk show) seems fine. I was only moving it due to the co-host change (saying co-host since it seems they are both advertised as such). Something should probably be done about the redirect page at Group Chat: The Show, which currently redirect to List of 2020 American television debuts.
- And how exactly should it be handled in the article itself? Would this host/series change just be signified by adding it as a new season (and having it included in the production section like it currently is)? Magitroopa (talk) 20:10, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
- You can see how, for example, The Late Late Show (American talk show) handles this in the lead. This could be more complicated for this show, as there are "co-hosts"... or we could just ignore that, and list all the hosts like is done at The Late Late Show (American talk show). And, yeah, Group Chat: The Show should definitely just redirect to the article, whereever we think it should end up...
- @Magitroopa: Would you object if we moved this discussion to Talk:Group Chat with Jayden & Brent? (And then once there, we should either solicit more opinion on this, or maybe launch a WP:Requested move discussion...) --IJBall (contribs • talk) 23:21, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
- You're all good... feel free to move/get some more opinions accordingly. Magitroopa (talk) 00:13, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

OK, now pinging the two regular editors of this page here to discuss whether the current name is fine, or perhaps it should be moved, as per the above discussion – @Magitroopa and Scatman007:. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 00:31, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- Either the article name should be Group Chat (TV series) or the current name the article refers to. Scatman007 (talk) 00:39, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Scatman007: This is covered under WP:NCTV, but this show is definitely not a regular "TV series", which have continuing story elements (e.g. Henry Danger). Under WP:NCTV, this is pretty clearly a "talk show" as any "game show" elements on the program are much more incidental. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 00:50, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- Well, as I disagree about the series being referred as a "talk show" but I would simply title it as "Group Chat" then. Scatman007 (talk) 00:55, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- That's a possibility, but we'd be relying on WP:SMALLDETAILS to differentiate it from (the redirect) Group chat which is generally a controversial subject... It does seem more and more that this may require a WP:RM (though I don't think I'm invested enough to launch one myself...). --IJBall (contribs • talk) 00:58, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

- Yeah, I'm perfectly fine with either. I think though if we were to go to the talk show/TV series title, then this image could stay on for the time being. Though, via the press release on the NickPress site, the logo of the show with the new title is available here (I'm just better at editing in info rather than adding images on Wikipedia in general- I have a tough time figuring out if something can/cannot and should/should not be used... if either of you or anyone else knows the image is fine to use and can easily upload it- feel free to.)
- I just definitely think that two articles will not be necessary. Such as how The Late Show has separate articles for Colbert and Letterman, or how The Late Late Show has separate articles for Ferguson and Corden- we would not need two separate articles here for the with Annie and Jayden and with Jayden & Brent versions of the show. Just the talk show/TV series or the upcoming version (Jayden & Brent) would be good, covering both 'versions' of the series.
- Also, not sure if you've watched any of the episodes, JBall, but the episodes honestly do have more games than just being a regular talk show ('Truth or dare' type games, finding certain things in houses, challenges to do something, dance challenges, etc.) IIRC, there's not really any point that they just sit down and talk without any challenges/games going on at the same time. Magitroopa (talk) 01:07, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- I've seen it a little, and they definitely do "game playing". But they also answer questions, and seem to have quasi-interview segments with the guests... It's a hodgepodge, but based on the name itself, "Group Chat", I think "talk show" is the closest to encompassing what the show is about. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 01:22, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think it will be that big of a deal doing something like that but if its referred to as the current name of the article, then I'm fine with it. Scatman007 (talk) 01:09, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Also, I moved the image to the "Production" section, as the image should not be on the infobox. I'm also not good with images either. They shouldn't be two different articles and once again, the article should be known as "Group Chat" if we can get that going. I agree with Magitroopa on how you probably have not seen many episodes of the show. But let's be honest here, who would sit down and watch more than one episode of the show (Its pretty bad)? Revisiting
editBased on the latest arrangement of the seasons, I now think it's more critical to move this article to a "neutral" title without the hosts in it, either Group Chat or Group Chat (talk show). Do others agree?... --IJBall (contribs • talk) 02:32, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Again, I'm fine with whatever is agreed upon- both/either would be fine with me. Like I said about not being the best with images, I'm also not the best at knowing exactly what can'can't be done per MOS. I'm only throwing it out there, not saying I want it this way or not, but would there be any reasoning/would it be beneficial to go off of the show as listed on The Futon Critic with that already existing Group Chat: The Show?
- Also just noting that I'm not sure if it goes against something in MOS (like around MOS:TVEPISODE or something similar), but I only used the Group Chat with Annie and Jayden and Group Chat with Jayden and Brent section headers in the episode section due to how it's listed as a new series on Zap2it (Annie/Jayden, Jayden/Brent). I'm perfectly fine if anyone wants to (or if it just needs to be in general) change it at all. Magitroopa (talk) 02:57, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

Group Chat with Jayden & Brent → Group Chat (talk show) – OK, I'm calling it – this show is not defined by its "hosts". It has now gone through three title iterations in a relatively short time: Group Chat with Annie & Jayden, Group Chat with Jayden & Brent, and now as of this weekend it's Group Chat with Young Dylan & That Girl Lay Lay. Better that the article simply be at the generic title "Group Chat" (Group Chat: The Show also redirects here), with "(talk show)" as a disambiguator – while the show does have "game aspects", it's closest to being a "talk show" as defined as per WP:NCTV. For a similar situation, see: The Late Late Show (American talk show). --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:13, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- I don't have much to say except I support the move to Group Chat (talk show). Scatman007 (talk) 20:27, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- Support. I agree that the name changes too much but something will have to be done with the images since they change with the names. Pamzeis (talk) 23:38, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- I support this move, the name has changed to three times so we could just simply call the show "Group Chat" ChannelSpider (talk) 14:01, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
