Why rename?
editWhy did someone re-direct this article AWAY from the correct designation???????? It should be Grumman F11F-1F Super Tiger. There should be no need for discussion because there is no doubt!!--Petebutt (talk) 22:21, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- The correct title is even used in the article!!!!!--Petebutt (talk) 22:22, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- Every specification of the Tiger with the upgraded engines, makes no mention of weights, centers of gravity, or any other facts? The J-79 weighed several hundred pounds more? "Janes" is not a definitive source. Can we please correct this? 69.46.58.93 (talk) 01:05, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

Grumman F11F Super Tiger → Grumman F11F-1F Super Tiger –
- F11F was the US Navy designation for the Tiger NOT the Super Tiger which was F11F-1F, a bit confusing but a lot less confusing than calling Super Tigers Tigers in the same article title Petebutt (talk) 22:17, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- Comment wouldn't it be better to use the post-'62 designation Grumman F-11B Super Tiger ? -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 22:50, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- No. To my knowledge, F-11B was never official, as it was out of all competitions by the time of the McNamara redesignations of 1962. Had the US Navy ordered the Super Tiger into production, it would probably had been designated F12F. - BilCat (talk) 23:52, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- Support - Per nom. Not sure who contested this, or where, or even why. - BilCat (talk) 23:52, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
