But the logo of "Grupo Bimbo" company its different from the one displayed here, that one is just the logo of the "Bimbo" bread brand.
- Updated the logos. Thanks for pointing it out.--Nleamy 20:24, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
The caption on the photo of the delivery truck says it's in El Salvador, but they're delivering to a Farmacia Benavides, which is a well known chain of drugstores in Mexico, and nextdoor is a store selling Corona cerveza, a Mexican brand. I'd be willing to bet the photo was taken in Mexico, not El Salvador. - Mark Dixon (talk) 21:19, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Reforestamos México?
editWhat does the comment about Reforestamos México have to do with Bimbo?
Reference available for generic use of term pan bimbo to mean loaf of bread in Latin America
editI have found a good corroboration for the company's claim, I think.
The source is in Handbook of Hispanic Cultures in the United States: Anthroplogy, Kanellos Nicolas and Claudio Esteva-Fabregat, eds., (Arte Publico Press: University of Houston, Houston, TX, 1994), p. 349.
This is a google book, and can be read online. I found it with a google search with a long address: http://books.google.com/books?id=7hMsnIMQxN8C&pg=PA349&lpg=PA349&dq=Latin+America+%22pan+bimbo%22&source=bl&ots=Ng4bgvr0Dd&sig=rDF439us58bF1Ab2C4JUDeA3UY8&hl=en&sa=X&ei=CXDBUOPYJoyI0QGosIGYBQ&ved=0CE0Q6AEwBjgU#v=onepage&q=Latin%20America%20%22pan%20bimbo%22&f=false
The other source of course is the company's unsubstantiated claim on its website at http://www.grupobimbo.com/en/our-group/heritage/products-we-all-love/white-bread.html
I would like to add these as citations to the article. When I learn how to do citations w/links I will do so.Cellequilit (talk) 04:54, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
Dead link to company web page
editThe company's web page has been changed and the material cited in footnote # 5 is an error 404 now. The company gives a shorter differing account of the brand's name origins at http://www.grupobimbo.com/en/our-group/heritage/characters/osito-bimbo.html Will try to edit to reflect this new material.Cellequilit (talk) 05:44, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
The word Bimbo
editThe word Bimbo in its negative use and I believe the name of bread company both stem from the Italian word for baby. The original meaning babyis not in itself negatively charged and can be a term of endearment. However it can evolve into a negative to imply an adult woman having the intelligence of a child. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.30.202.57 (talk) 14:30, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
How does this article make no mention of the fact that "bimbo" is a derogatory slur? The word is obscene, at least in American culture, and it's insane that any company would try to do business with such a terrible name. The only reason I came to read this article was to understand why they made such a terrible decision. Yet the article doesn't even mention it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.125.198.134 (talk) 05:57, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
I know we like to think we are the center of the universe, but the United States only has 4% of the world's population. It's an offensive term for an "airheaded" or "shallow" woman in this country. Many American brand names have unfortunate meanings elsewhere too, it is one aspect of globalization that any name or brand is going to mean something rude or stupid in another country. Your right though that you'd think in the U.S., the name would probably get changed more. 2603:8080:7D05:7200:4000:1747:262D:4500 (talk)
POV problems
editThe POV issues in this article are horrendous. I just went through and did some copyediting (more language-based). A lot of the article reads like corporate fluff, originally written in Spanish. Raymie (t • c) 03:40, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Deletions July 2021
editIt was disappointing to see large deletions of useful content from this article. There does though seem to have been a valid case to delete the 'Internationalization' & 'Brands by region' sections. If anyone plans to add those back, I'd suggest the information could be formatted more along the lines as in other large corporate articles like Kellogg's. And it would be better to use a more recent source than 2017 to report the companies structure, as these things tend to change rapidly for firms of this size.
Also, as this is English Wikipedia, it would have been nice to include some UK related content. Unless this has changed in the last few months I believe most of their Sales here are for Bagels, largely via their New York Bakery Co. brand, which wasn't even mentioned. They sell a lot of Bagels all across Europe & much of the rest of the world too, though admittedly not the Cinnamon & raison variety we like here in UK.
The company deserves its lengthy accolade section, and it's encyclopedic to include it. Again though there is a lot missing. For example, Bimbo are one of the world's biggest donators to food banks, both globally and here in UK. FeydHuxtable (talk) 00:01, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
Anti-gender movement
edit"There are three main funding streams for opposition actors associated with the anti-gender movement throughout South and Central America, including religious institutions such as the Catholic Church, private funding through wealthy individuals or corporations such as Grupo Bimbo, and funding through government institutions such as ministries of health or education." https://globalphilanthropyproject.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/MTM-Summary-.pdf Buckshot06 (talk) 01:04, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
