- What makes https://www.oiseaux.net/presentation.html a reliable source? Google translate tells me that it's a "Oiseaux.net is a collaborative Web 2.0 encyclopedic site" i.e. it's crowd sourced? It's used 10 times...
- Most of it were just a supporting ref, but I ended up removong everything now. OnlyFixingProse (talk) 01:05, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

- Lead:
- "that nests in holes and digs with its beak in the trunk of dead trees" I think you mean "that nests in holes it digs with its beak in the trunk of dead trees"
- Replaced
- "Juvenile birds stay with the parents for a long period before becoming independent" how long?
- Several months, Done
- link for "endemism"?
- Linked
- Taxonomy:
- "phylogenetic position" link and explanation for the layperson?
- Attempted
- Distribution:

- "The Guadeloupe woodpecker, an exclusively sedentary species,[12] is distributed in almost all of the islands' forest types in a heterogeneous way" ... can we say this in simpler English - this is just not understandable to the layperson.
- Reworded
- "the ombrophile massif" link?
- Red linked
- "The species also seemed to have colonized the Caribbean Mountains at the southern tip of Basse-Terre between 1998 and 2007." This can have two meanings - that the bird appeared in that area for a period between 1998 and 2007 but no longer appears there in the present, or that it colonized the area between 1998 and 2007 and still appears there in the present. Either way it needs to be clarified. If the first - say "The species also seemed to have colonized the Caribbean Mountains at the southern tip of Basse-Terre between 1998 and 2007 but no longer is resident there." If the second, use "The species also seems to have colonized the Caribbean Mountains at the southern tip of Basse-Terre between 1998 and 2007."

- Description:
- link for "pterygoid protractor muscle" and "pterygoid bone"?
- Linked
- Food:
- "This species has never been documented to feed on flower nectar or tree sap, unlike the Cuban green woodpecker, which is endemic to Cuba." I'm not sure why this is in here... seems utterly irrelevant to the species - I mean, horses have never been documented to feed on flower nectar either, but unless the Cuban green woodpecker is the closest relative to this woodpecker, we don't really need to know that they do feed on nectar and are endemic to Cuba.

- Please make sure my copyedits did not change meaning inadvertantly.
- Thank you! It looks fine, but I unbold the scientific name at the lead like other quality articles.
- I randomly googled three phrases and only turned up Wikipedia mirrors. Earwig's tool shows no sign of copyright violation.
- I've put the article on hold for seven days to allow folks to address the issues I've brought up. Feel free to contact me on my talk page, or here with any concerns, and let me know one of those places when the issues have been addressed. If I may suggest that you strike out, check mark, or otherwise mark the items I've detailed, that will make it possible for me to see what's been addressed, and you can keep track of what's been done and what still needs to be worked on.
