Hora Marcada
Hora Marcada was a TV show here in México much in the vein of the Twilight Zone, Guillermo directed a few of episodes (don't know actually how many), but I think Geometria (1987) and Doña Lupe (1985) are from that show. Sadly, I have no valid source to confirm this.
Santiago Segura
I'd like to add the fact that he likes to cast Spanish actor Santiago Segura on his movies in a small part, but I can't seem to find a link with info on this... any help? Vicco Lizcano 15:59, 16 February 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
Academy Award?
Exactly what Academy Award has del Toro won? I don't remember him winning any. As a matter of fact, I don't remember him being nominated (except obviously, that you're talking about his films).Vicco Lizcano 19:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
- According to imdb, he was nominated but did not win, see: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0868219/awards
Vrac 21:01, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Cool, Thanks Vrac, then we agree he's not an academy award winner as it's stated in the article, right? the fact that his film won 3 awards doesn't make him a winner. Or am I mistaken? If he had won the best original screenplya category, I wouldn't mind. Vicco Lizcano 16:43, 16 March 2007 (UTC) (Tell me where I'm wrong)
Umm...how is he categorized under Mexican Roman Catholics when he is a self-described Pagan
I suspect because he was Baptized Catholic and in the eyes of the Church he is still Catholic unless he is excommunicated. I've also heard him say 'once a Catholic always a Catholic' 24.6.255.112 (talk) 02:26, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Pan's Labyrinth was also nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards in 2006 as well as winning for Best Cinematography, Makeup and Art Direction. I don't know how to add this to the article though... [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.80.154.136 (talk) 22:14, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
- Del Toro was the film's writer, director and producer, but he wasn't the cinematographer, makeup artist or art director, so those awards aren't strictly relevant to this article. —Flax5 22:20, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Residence
The current version (that says just "he lives in California") looks good to me. I just removed the earlier residence part because we didn't need to be quite that specific. - Jredmond (talk) 23:33, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
On a related note: If he's a full-time resident of the USA, shouldn't he be called "Mexican-American" instead of "Mexican"? --67.241.29.225 (talk) 14:06, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Deathly Hallows
I've commented out the Deathly Hallows entry in "Possible future projects" (rather than completely removing it).
The Harry Potter films are, more than any other property, like a conveyer belt delivering films at timed intervals. This is because of the age of the actors and the parts they play--it is unlikely that the actors could credibly play mid-teens far into their twenties. For this reason, Deathly Hallows is scheduled for 2010 release. Since del Toro is in advanced negotiations to taken on major Tolkien-related projects, it would be impossible for him to take on the commitment. David Heyman has told Hollywood Reporter that del Toro is "too busy" and that's obviously an understatement.

Projects he turned down to direct
How does this section help improve the article? I don't see how. I suggest we remove it, so I posted here so anyone can defend its inclusion or promote its deletion.Vicco Lizcano (talk) 14:35, 6 May 2008 (UTC) (Hey! Listen!)
At the Mountains of Madness
I remember seeing that Del Toro was directing an adaptation of Lovecraft's novella At the Mountains of Madness on his page at some point, but when I checked today the reference had been removed. I checked IMDB and it was also removed from his upcoming projects there; however, I know that the project has not been killed... it's still listed as active on every Del Toro fansite and other resource I checked. So we should keep it in the As Director section, yes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Salmon Thief (talk • contribs) 04:12, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
The Strain
del Toro has a vampire novel called The Strain[1] coming out in a few months. I suppose this should be added to the article, but I'm not really sure of the best way to put it in Yoyogod (talk) 16:00, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
The Hobbit
He has dropped from The Hobbit according to Yahoo! http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.ap.org/director-quits-hobbit-film-over-production-delay-ap.
The "future projects" section should be edited accordingly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wind2008 (talk • contribs) 22:18, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
DreamWorks
He'll work on a DreamWorks Animation movie. http://ir.dreamworksanimation.com/press-release-sub.html?id=1474982 --Exrain (talk) 01:25, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Contradiction concerning "At the Mountains of Madness"
In the section about "At the Mountains of Madness" it says: "[Cameron] and del Toro] put forward the idea for Universal, which then greenlighted it." Later on it says "Mountains of Madness did not receive the greenlight by Universal Studios"
So what's now the case? Greetings, --84.139.85.147 (talk) 11:19, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
Update
Large sections of this article are devoted into coverage of abandoned projects that were announced and discussed but will most likely never be made. Ridernyc (talk) 18:22, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe the parts of the article dealing with cancelled or dubious projects could be split off into a separate page, like List of unproduced Tim Burton projects and Stanley Kubrick's unrealized projects? —Flax5 18:36, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Vampyr
Del Toro recorded a feature-length commentary for the (U.K.) Masters of Cinema release (circa 2008) of the 1932 Carl Dreyer film Vampyr. He doesn't always comment on the action directly, but expounds at length on style, themes, cinematography and symbolism. Projects of Future Past
The Future Projects section is full of conflicting information. Someone knowledgeable needs to go through and sort out which films have been postponed or cancelled. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.198.129.182 (talk) 00:46, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Spanish IPA
I don't speak Spanish but from what basic knowledge I have of it the "Spanish pronunciation" is actually Castilian, not Mexican. This should be changed to at least how he would pronounce his own name. 2601:484:8102:620:AC6E:5CCA:2FC4:5116 (talk) 22:36, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
Producing credits
The lead paragraph states that he produced, among others,Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss In Boots. In fact he produced some and executive produced others. That distinction should be made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.134.4.232 (talk) 05:48, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
