The article was originally created by a company offering treatment for this condition, and therefore may have had COI issues. I've attempted to remove blatant advertising/non-NPOV material, but finding independent third-party sources has been problematic as 99% of the articles available all seem to be by companies offering treatment - hardly objective coverage ! :-) CultureDrone (talk) 07:39, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Strange and unscientific claims regarding melanin
editThe claim in the first section that "Melanin in skin is very common in inhabitants in many parts of the world due to genetic factors" is very oddly stated. In fact all humans, except for those who are albino, produce some amount of melanin. I don't understand how melanin is a "detoxification mechanism," either. This article may need re-writing to sound less like it is pathologizing melanin or darker skin tones. Thelurkingeditor (talk) 03:34, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
