Kaibō-gakari
editGiven the current status of this article, I'm uncertain about adding the following list: The prefix kaibō-gakari meaning "in charge of maritime defense" was used with the titles of some bakufu officials to designate those who bore a special responsibility for overseeing coastal waters, and by implication, for dealing with matters involving foreigners -- for example, kaibō-gakari-ōmetsuke which later came to be superseded by the term gaikoku-gakari.[1]
List of kaibō-gakari
- Toki Yorimune (1845-1846, 1855-1858), kaibō-gakari-ōmetsuke.[2]
- Arao Narimasa (1852-1854), kaibō-gakari-metsuke.[3]
- Izawe Tadanari (1854-1858), kaibō-gakari-metsuke.[4]
- Iwasa Masayoshi (1856-1858), kaibō-gakari-ōmetsuke.[5]
- List of gaikoku-gakari
- Oguri Tadamasa (1859-1860), gaikoku-gakari-metsuke.[6]
- Izawa Tadanari (1858-1863), gaikoku-gakari-ōmetsuke.[4]
- Ikeda Nagaaki (1861-1863, 1863), gaikoku-gakari-metsuke.[4]
For the time being, I'm parking the list here .... --Tenmei (talk) 23:11, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
