The current title, EP (Guns N' Roses EP), is clearly not a good one. But I'm not sure what the real title of this EP is. I googled around and found the following:

  • The AOL music database calls it "Guns 'N' Roses". Gives no release date.[1]
  • The allmusic database (also used by Billboard[2] and Starpulse[3]) calls it "Guns 'N' Roses" and gives 1988 as the year of release.[4]
  • GNR Evolution calls it "Live In The Jungle" and gives 1987 as the year of release. Displays all three album covers including their obi strips.[5]
  • Discogs calls it "Live EP", gives 1987 as the year of release.[6]
  • 991.com calls it "Live EP", gives 1987 as the year of release.[7]
  • MusicBrainz calls it "EP", gives 1987 as the year of release.[8]
  • heretodaygonetohell.com says: "Guns N' Roses EP aka Live From The Jungle EP", gives 1987 as the year of release.[9]
  • GNR Source calls it "Live From The Jungle", gives 1988 as the year of release.[10]

I also asked LordAmeth what the Japanese text on the obi strip of the covers means (see the GNR Evolution page I linked to above). He replied:

The two columns of large Japanese text in red on the left side of the image read: "Live from the Jungle" and "Guns And Roses". It's spelled out phonetically (raibu furomu za janguru // ganzu ando rozezu), not translated into Japanese vocabulary.[11]

I always thought that "Live From The Jungle" was a title made up by fans, but it turns out that they got it from the obi strip. That still doesn't confirm the official title though. I think it is either "Guns N' Roses EP", or simply "Guns N' Roses", judging from the cover. I guess "Live From The Jungle", or "Live In The Jungle", is just some slogan they put on the strip which became an alternative name, because titling it "Guns N' Roses" is a bit confusing. The names "Live EP" and "EP" are nonsense, imo.

I say we move this article to Guns N' Roses (EP). Everyone agrees with that?

As for the article itself, I had to work rather unorthodox to create something out of this confusing mess (see my first edit and the edits that followed). Help is, of course, appreciated. Cheers, theFace 16:43, 26 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Btw, I also asked here. - theFace 17:32, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
It is a Japanese EP and Japanese title is "ライヴ・フロム・ザ・ジャングル (Live from the Jungle)", why don't we just call it "Live from the Jungle" then? I don't understand. That title went onto obi strip only and not onto the actual jacket artwork, yes, but that is because they intended to show that infamous rape jacket for the Appetite album, to the Japanese fans, in its original form. To clarify , "Live from the Jungle" was not a slogan either. "ストリートで生まれた。ストリートを歌った。ロックンロールの未来を見た。"portion of the strip was the slogan, it translates; "Born in the street. Sang about the street. Saw the future of the Rock 'n' Roll.". --Yk49 (talk) 09:52, 24 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

A little Reminder

edit

some birdies (including the mostly-reliable MSL) say that the next record is called "Guns N' Roses." If this is true, lets make sure we change the title of this EP back to "Live From the Jungle." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.80.214.74 (talk) 14:09, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
