Citation request for the quote
editIs there a citation or any source material available for the statement:
He often said to the men under his command "You are fighter pilots first, last, always. If I ever hear of any of you shooting at someone in a parachute, I'll shoot you myself."
If so, I think it would be an important addition. --Outsideshot (talk) 19:10, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
There are several references to this in literature and articles about the "Charlie_Brown_and_Franz_Stigler_incident" as quoted above.
As such a literary quote should be found in A Higher Call: An Incredible True Story of Combat and Chivalry in the War-Torn Skies of World War II, published 19 December 2012.
Though it seems likely that he did, I know no sources for Rödel saying such things to other pilots as well.

- I agree. The quote is from a WP:RS, it's widely repeated, it's part of a significant incident, there are no objections, and it should go in the article. --Nbauman (talk) 17:09, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
