We just had a very good example of a gustnado yesterday (July 31, 2005) in Vail, Arizona. Vail is a small community at the southeast edge of metropolitan Tucson. We all thought it was a tornado, but meteorologists were split: one declared it to be a big dust devil, while another declared it to be a gustnado.

I'm with the second meteorologist. I've never seen a dust devil kick up during a storm in Arizona. They occur on hot, dry days PRIOR to our monsoon, not right in the middle of a monsoon rain in progress. But then again, I've never seen a gustnado before, either.

To see good pictures, follow this link to the site of the meteorologist claiming it to be a dust devil: http://www.kvoa.com/

That was a gustnado if it was produced in the outflow winds gushing away from a storm. Dust devils form in air strongly heated by sunshine.

Hey, just a week ago or so, in Pahrump, NV, I was standing in a gustnado and took a picture real close after it passed by my house. How do I upload this photo? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coffee4binky (talkcontribs) 05:35, 24 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I just edited two of the links in the article since they were both dead. They were links pointing to a blog on the USA Today website, via a separate website. All I did was take out the stuff before the USA Today URL and they worked, so I fixed the links in the article. I'm writing this because the same link appears under both the External Links section and the References section and I didn't know if one should be deleted or not. I don't know the proper protocol for that kind of thing, so I figured I'd mention it here and let someone else edit the article if necessary. 68.97.2.111 (talk) 04:07, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

EDIT: Did this incorrectly. Thought I knew what I was doing. Sorry. 68.229.40.204 (talk) 06:09, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
