Legal troubles?
editPrevious edit included uncited report of an arrest for molestation of a minor. Removed until sourced.

editIn which year did he win Guitarist Magazine's "Guitarist of the Year" award?
Why is this so much about Asia (band)?
I believe it was in 1993, bear in mind it was the UK edition of `Guitarist` magazine. I remember it well as the frontpage had the headline `Burger King` due to the fact he worked in McDonalds at the time he won.
more?
editgoddamn, why is guthrie's info so hard to find on the internet? Can anyone please expand it. Cheers! Beatallica 16:29, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
i've expanded the article quite a bit. theres now more biographical info, more on erotic cakes, his tuition career, a section on technique/influences/gear and references. i restructured the article obviously, but all the previous content is still intact i think, at most it's been reworded to fit. it would be good if the technique section could have something on innovations such as his tapped arpeggios, multi-finger tapping, 'outside' playing, mixing rock and jazzy sections within a piece (waves, wonderful slippery thing) etc however, it would need to be referenced properly to avoid appearing as original research. also there should be something about him playing guitar on t.v. when he was a child; again i can't find a reference, govan's own account is a bit vague. more internal links would be nice, i might finish that when i get time. DOB glitch
editThe text says 27 Dec 1971, and the code in the side bar says 1971|27|12, yet it comes out at March 12 1971 (age 37). Even the calculated age is wrong, as it is now June 2009, so even if it was 12 Mar, he would still be 38 now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.172.143.205 (talk) 12:21, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Docker's Guild
editI restored the Docker's Guild entry, with a reference to the official band page on MySpace. There are several more sources available if necessary, including official FaceBook, Reverbnation and Twitter pages, plus an announcement in John Payne's Asia FB page, and several articles and interviews published over the Net. Guthrie is not always mentioned because he was a late addition, substituting for Jeff Watson who was unable to finish the project. However, he has performed on the whole album, which should be released sometime in 2011. Let me know if you need more references. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.57.10.49 (talk) 08:02, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
First amplifier?
editIn the "Biography and early playing career" section, there's a line "The award money allowed him to buy his first amplifier". In 1993. While the article also says that he was born in 1971, says that he played guitar since he was aged 3, and suggests that he played a Gibson SG in secondary school (so even if the first guitars he played were acoustic...). This seems suspicious and there's no citation. 76.31.27.51 (talk) 18:22, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- Added a {{cn}} template. O.t.o.h.—and f.w.i.w.—for the best part of a decade I used two old telefunken radios in series (speaker-out directly plugged into phono-in) before I could afford my first real amp. - DVdm (talk) 19:35, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
Erotic Cakes
editI created an article about Guthrie's first solo album "erotic cakes" any input on it would be aprreciated. Nrigaud (talk) 22:23, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
Too much information?
editI think this page holds a bewildering amount of information about a fairly unknown guitarist - it's longer that Zappa, Andy Summers, etc wiki pages Nibi (talk) 20:49, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
- I tend to disagree since he's one of the most respected guitar players in guitar circles at the moment. What is a problem is the tone of the article, not its length. Sorry to the author(s), but the sound of it is much too "fanboyish" and just unencyclopedic like it was written by a very young person. 79.201.161.82 (talk) 03:55, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
