Commercial and military divers depth claim

edit

Commercial and military divers do not operate at the depths claimed on scuba. They use surface supply and usually do those depths as saturation dives. • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 14:13, 8 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Peter. That is a poorly referenced bit of info that I included largely off a comment made during a discussion on scubaboard by one of the ex-commercial divers on the site who said that he was involved in a team testing commercial scuba down to those depths (although it never went beyond testing). But I don't have any WP:RS to back the statement. I'll dig around and if I can't find anything solid to support it, I'll remove it. Separately, I am virtually certain I have something in one of my textbooks which states that the US Navy has military rebreathers which are used at depths in excess of 1,200 feet. If I can dig out the reference I'll cite the book reference. --Legis (talk - contribs) 14:21, 8 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
