Conflict of interest
editI've added {{coi}} as the article's subject says in this blog post that "I should declare that I write and update this page". 86.7.19.159 (talk) 23:58, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I've removed it. It's written straightforwardly and factually. Nothing to clean up. It's mentioned on the talk page. Ty 03:13, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- It is neutralish but it is not ideal - I've added {{autobio}} as this is more appropriate. It needs a big clean up to remove all the unsourced material - i.e. starting a PhD, his wife, his kids etc... If sources can be found I'll add them but if not the info should be removed. 86.7.19.159 (talk) 13:02, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- You posted a tag that the article "may not conform to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy". Could you please explain where it doesn't, as it seems OK to me on that front. It's just factual. There's no interpretation, opinion, praise of the subject etc. If you mean it needs sources then {{Verify}} would be more appropriate, with {{fact}} next to specific text that needs a ref. There is a clear conflict of interest. The author is writing about himself, by definition there is a coi.Independent and seen to be independent are key qualifiers in determining whether there is a conflict of interest. "there is no interpretation, opinion, praise of the subject etc" and what about something that is missing. Something that is left out either deliberately or by accident. Vouch and Trace. Mr Walters should, however, be applauded for clearly and truthfully stating that he does edit his own page. The libelous drivel that is aimed against him is vandalism which he has a right to delete. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.199.100 (talk) 06:25, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- There is a lot of talk about his novels, sold for money. This is obviously COI. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.179.32.130 (talk) 16:32, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Article or CV?
editI can say this is the first time I have read an article and thought it was written by the person it's about. I see that he admits to doing so and I think it goes against the neutrality policy. An artricle written and kept up to date by the person it's about can not be held as neutral especially when it reads like a CV and self promotion. He's even keeping it up to date "In June 2013, he accepted the position of Lecturer in Modern British History at the New College of the Humanities in London." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.0.201.161 (talk) 14:07, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Not a real historian
editThe article should mention that Walters has been widely condemned as a hack and that he is not by any means a respected, credible historian. (JerzyPilanski (talk) 14:31, 1 March 2022 (UTC))
