"Context" tag

edit

That was the closest thing I could find to an appropriate tag. Much more information is needed than a summary of the aircraft's unveiling. Who makes it? Why does Iran want them? Etc. Etc... - The Bushranger One ping only 16:33, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Beechcraft

edit

The cited source clearly links the Karrar to the 1970s Beechcraft target drone. The source looks reliable enough to me, it's a defense magazine. If there are sources stating that that's false, I haven't seen them. For these reasons I will reinstate the content and I'd like to invite the IP editor to explain why it should be removed; see WP:BRD.

While I'm at it I'll reword the content removed from the lead that previously had inappropriate, unsourced language ("fraudulently"). Huon (talk) 23:01, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

The IP editor keeps removing information that links the Karrar to either the Beechcraft or the South African Skua drone. Yet the source they provided in the edit summary, https://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/world//iran/karrar.htm, confirms the connection to both: "The design of the Karrar traces back to the BQM-126A target drone, developed by the U.S. company Beechcraft in the 1970s." And: "[...] first public showing on August 22, 2010 strongly suggest that it is a near identical primary copy turned up side down of a South African, (Denel Aerospace Systems) Kentron - designed - HTD -1 Skua high speed target drone UAV [...] this is no surprise based on the known 2006 technology transfers from both South Africa and Russia to several nation states of the region". If there is a source that disputes the connections to Beechcraft and Skua, this isn't it. Even if such a source can be found, that's no reason to remove all mention of this connection since it's well-sourced; if there is a reliable source disputing the link, the thing to do is to note in the article that sources disagree on this issue. For now I'll restore the well-sourced content. Huon (talk) 19:00, 11 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
