Ghosts Lyrics
editIn the song Ghosts, at the point where he says "Don't understand it" after the second verse there is some backup vocals chanting something. But I can never distinguish what it is. All I can guess is the line is something like "Gotta ghost walkin' down the halls. Gotta ghoul..." Can somebody help clarify? Sarujo (talk) 16:07, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Ghosts audio
editSince the remix of HIStory has an audio file added, is it also appropriate to add a sample for the Ghosts remix? TehRandomPersontalk 03:59, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- No, the remix of HIStory was what was actually released here. We also include the original version of HIStory to show the changes for the reader. A Ghosts remix is not needed. — Realist2 17:15, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Realist, why do you keep changing the genre edits I should make?
edit'Ghosts' is clearly more New jack swing; then it is HOUSE music. I don't know what sources you're using but they're wrong... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.154.201.152 (talk) 19:31, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Split?
editSimply they are two separate songs and HIStory has been featured on its own more than once. Simply south (talk) 15:54, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- only 16 KB long, this not need to be splited. TbhotchTalk C. 01:54, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
HIStory composed in 1996?
editThe article claims HIStory was "composed by Michael Jackson, James Harris III and Terry Lewis in 1996". But HIStory (album) was released in june 1995, making it pretty obvious HIStory was not composed in 1996. 88.166.19.90 (talk) 17:45, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Proposed split (2017)
editThe following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
It's common practice for Wikipedia song articles to be about songs, not single releases. (one prominent example: Something (Beatles song) and Come Together.) Both songs on this single release appear to be notable in their own right, and each have fairly lengthy, detailed sections about them in the article. I see no reason why this should not be split into HIStory (Michael Jackson song) and Ghosts (Michael Jackson song). I'd carry out the split myself, but since this has been listed as a good article since 2009, I'd like to get opinions from other editors. I'll notify a few projects about this. Chase (talk | contributions) 23:39, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- I'd also like to see Scream & Childhood be split. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:08, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Should this article be split into HIStory (Michael Jackson song) and Ghosts (Michael Jackson song)? George Ho (talk) 04:25, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support as besides being released together these songs aren't very much related. (Also: shouldn't the {{rfc}} be at the top of this section?) Eman235/talk 21:03, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
- Chase, Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars, Akhiljaxxn, and Eman, is GA reassessment necessary? If so, should I do the individual or community one? I'm gonna start the split progress soon. George Ho (talk) 20:04, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
- How about it, Simply south? May I start the GAR now? --George Ho (talk) 20:40, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
- Supportas each one is separate. Simply south ...... time, department skies for just 11 years 20:06, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

- Support Other than mentioning in each new article that it was release together w/ the other, no need to directly combine the two songs. WikiVirusC (talk) 13:21, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Support per reasons above; they're separate songs and they're not really related. What are we waiting for? Now's the perfect time to split. 2601:8C:4001:DCB9:31B6:38F2:9217:4AC2 (talk) 15:52, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Requested move 27 October 2020

Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Ultimately, I read this as a weak consensus to move, per WP:SMALLDETAILS. Hatnote will be put in for navigation aid. (non-admin closure) (t · c) buidhe 15:27, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
HIStory (Michael Jackson song) → HIStory (song) – Because WP articles are case-sensitive, it is incredibly unlikely that someone would spell "history (song)" as "HIStory (song)" when looking for other songs named "history". - Support. I never understood why this was splitted here and not there. On a side note (because I know people will ask about why this is not History (Michael Jackson song)), it is not a stylization, it is a word play ("his-story") that is used consistently by most (if not all) the sources discussing Jackson topics as requested by both MOS:TM and WP:AT. (CC) Tbhotch™ 18:57, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose other songs; this is a stylism, stylisms are frequently wordplays. No advantage to the reader in removing the name of the artist. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:10, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
