This page needs to be flagged for cleanup and as containing biased information. It (in particular, the Timeline) contains:
- irrelevant information (old quotes from Fauci or *Oprah Winfrey* (!) projecting number of future infected individuals have no relevance to an article on blood screening techniques; neither do quotes stating that estimates of the number of infected individuals in the American population have been revised downward)
- out-of-date information (old projections from the mid-80s)
- quotes from people who are not recognized authorities on the subject matter (Oprah Winfrey?)
- misleading statements (citing a legal disclaimer ostensibly from a '97 Abbot Labs test kit rather than the current FDA web page listing tests approved by the FDA for diagnosing HIV infection)
It appears to me that an HIV denialist has edited this page (especially the Timeline) in order to engage in point-of-view pushing. I will do a quick cleanup now. If HIV denialists revert the changes, this will likely require arbitration. AIDSvideos (talk) 00:46, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
This article needs an estimate of the current risk of contracting HIV through receiving a blood transfusion as a key metric for the estimated effectiveness of current HIV blood screening techniques. I've seen such estimates in the past but don't have one on me right now. AIDSvideos (talk) 00:50, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
