Talk:HMS Acasta (1912)

Latest comment: 6 years ago by Tony Holkham in topic Was HMS Hawkins a light or heavy cruiser?

I will try to convert the list of further reading links to inline citations today, so bear with me. Some of the measurements in the infobox may not be 100% accurate, so feel free to amend if you have definite details. Tony Holkham (talk) 13:40, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

To editor Parsecboy: I tend to the view that the link you've deleted is acceptable as it is dedicated to the subject of the article, and I can't see anything about it that would definitely exclude it under WP:ELNO. The crew list is helpful. If the site doesn't doesn't fulfil this singular purpose in due course, then of course it wouldn't be appropriate, but for now I think it should stand. There are a number of issues with it - in the list of links to be avoided, #11 and arguably #4 (since the editor who added it has done little else besides spam the links). Though not directly relevant, WP:NOTMEMORIAL also comes to mind - a list of non-notable crewmen isn't really within our scope. Parsecboy (talk) 19:30, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Understood, but I gave some weight to the fact that the site is linked to the IWM's LOTFWW project. Tony Holkham (Talk) 19:42, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
I would link directly to the IWM page, instead. Parsecboy (talk) 20:10, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I've done that. Thanks. Tony Holkham (Talk) 20:14, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Was HMS Hawkins a light or heavy cruiser?

edit

Towards the end of this HMS Acasta article, reference is made to torpedo trials with HMS Hawkins, which is described as a light cruiser. Following the link however, the first sentence in the HMS Hawkins article describes it as a heavy cruiser. Were there two such? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.57.110.176 (talk) 09:27, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

At 9,750 tons, a heavy cruiser. I have changed it. Thanks. Tony Holkham (Talk) 09:34, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
