@Euryalus: - I would like to combine the article Alderney (1784 ship) into this article. 1) What do you think? If you agree, what is the best way to do it? I was thinking of cutting and pasting from the second article into the HMS article, and then turning the second into a redirect. Is there a better way? @Acad Ronin: Sorry for the delayed reply. Sounds good if you're sure these are the same vessel. In the next day or so I can add a section on this Alderney as a Royal Navy vessel - I intended to do this earlier but got distracted by other things. I reckon you should indeed simply paste the 1784 ship article onto the bottom of this one, with appropriate attribution on this talkpage (per WP:MERGE). -- Euryalus (talk) 02:26, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Euryalus:No worries. I had forgotten about my query. The preponderence of the evidence supports the merger. The smoking gun would require original research into Admiralty sales records, assuming they exist. I think I will do a cut-and-paste merge in tranches, eventually leaving behind a redirect. Cheers. Merge is done. Next step is to add in her naval career. Great if you can do it as I don't have the relevant Winfield. I will look for London Gazette info to add in. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 03:04, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
