Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on December 17, 2011.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the British destroyer HMS Hurricane rescued 451 survivors from the passenger-cargo liner SS City of Nagpur and landed them at Greenock, Scotland, on 1 May 1941?

Regarding the rescue of survivors from SS City of Nagpur: Discrepancies on dates (1 April vs 1 May), number of survivors rescued (463 vs 451) and landing location (Gourock vs Greenock) in this article and the one on SS City of Nagpur. Neither number of survivors does not make sense with account in the SS City of Nagpur article (463 total passengers and crew, 13 ratings and 1 officer killed in the engine room and one deck crew member killed on deck sould yield a maximum of 448 survivors). English is quoted accurately as to number of survivors and date. Doesn't mean that he's right, but it is verifiable.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 16:57, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
