Battle honours
editBattle honours in the Royal Navy and other Commonwealth navies that are awarded to individual ships are inherited by subsequent ships to carry the name. Check other other disambiguation pages of Royal Navy ships and you will see battle honours have also been added. Hammersfan (talk) 17:08, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- Got any examples you could share with me? I just viewed about 30 or 40 ship Royal Navy ships chosen at random from Category:Royal Navy ship names and didn't find any "battle honours" sections. Could be a statistical fluke since I have no idea what percentage of ships have battle honours. I note that the section you created doesn't explain what a battle honour is or link to an explanation, which makes me concerned that we're generating lot of confusion and clutter on what should probably be a simple page. Has this been discussed somewhere? Thanks! —jameslucas ▄▄▄ ▄ ▄▄▄ ▄▄▄ ▄ 17:26, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- HMS Invincible, HMS Ark Royal, HMS Valiant, HMS Warspite, HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Manchester, HMS Glasgow, HMS Sheffield, HMS Coventry, HMS Brilliant, HMS Ardent, HMS Illustrious, HMAS Australia, HMAS Melbourne, HMAS Sydney, HMAS Canberra, HMCS Toronto, HMCS Algonquin, HMCS Halifax - it's obviously a long process, but these are some examples from the Royal Navy, Royal Australian Navy and Royal Canadian Navy Hammersfan (talk) 17:37, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- A small note stating that the "ship's named "insert name" have earned the following [Battle honour#Naval battle honours|battle honours] that are carried by later ships of the same name", or something along those lines to help readers understand. Llammakey (talk) 11:28, 6 June 2019 (UTC)
