Comments:
- As usual, it looks good. I made some light edits throughout, usually concerning commas and what not.
- "She was visited by King Charles XV of Sweden on one occasion when visiting one of Sweden's west-coast ports in the early 1870s." → Was Charles XV visiting the port, or the ship visiting the port? The sentence implies the latter, but I just want to make sure.
The length of the lead is to be expected, but I would add in one more sentence to be safe. Maybe you could add something dealing with the the fact that they were built out of interest sparked by the use of ironclads during the American Civil War, and that the design was based on that of the Monitor.I just did it myself.
