Merge with HP Helion
editHP Helion is the new umbrella name for all HP cloud products and services. All HP social media accounts formerly named HP Cloud are now named Helion. These two articles should be merged. Anyone want to help with the rewrite?
Primary sources
editThe amount of material derived from HP sources in this article is excessive and has been flagged as a problem since September. If the situation doesn't improve within the next couple of weeks, I propose to cut the article back to the level supported by reliable sources. AFAICS this would be little more than a stub, so I urge anyone who knows of good sources to add them as soon as possible. Don't worry about using the correct format for citations, we can clean them up later. Thanks - Pointillist (talk) 10:25, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- I'm replacing this article with a redirect to HP Converged Cloud. I don't think anything of importance will be lost: 28 of this articles 30 references are HP announcements, 1 is to a CRN Magazine synopsis of an HP announcement and there's just one reliable source, which I have copied to HP Converged Cloud where it belongs. - Pointillist (talk) 08:09, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Cloud Services vs Converged Cloud article
editThere seems to be some uncertainty about whether HP Cloud Services is a distinct technology or a business unit. AFAICS it is just the name for the HP Converged Cloud portfolio offered and billed as a public cloud. I have replaced the current article with a stub explaining this naming. The stub has eight reliable sources whereas the predecessor text had just one – and that was about Converged Cloud: the only mention of HP Cloud Services was in a job title. There does indeed seem to be a business unit called "HP Cloud Services": you can find individual people who work for it, e.g. this engineer and this marketing lead. But it isn't notable as a business unit. It doesn't receive any third party coverage, it isn't being used in investor relations – I've checked HP's 2012 Annual Report, the Q1, Q2, and Q3 results announcements and the transcripts of the Quarterly Results calls where analysts discuss the quarterly results – and it wasn't used in the August 21st re-organization announcement or press reports. The bottom line is that Wikipedia already has three properly-sourced articles on HP's cloud (i.e. HP Converged Cloud, HP CloudSystem and HP Cloud Service Automation Software). The old version of this article seems to have been just a vehicle for Tberger415 (talk · contribs) to do his marketing job and didn't add anything encyclopedic. So could we please leave this as a stub in the absence of reliably-source relevant third-party coverage? Thanks - Pointillist (talk) 10:08, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- We shouldn't speculate about Tberger415's motivations. But with these new sources I think we can merge the information about the "Cloud Services" branding to HP Converged Cloud and redirect this page again. De728631 (talk) 12:58, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- No, let's not redirect now we have all the sources lined up properly. It risks someone re-creating the HP Cloud Services article in future, e.g. if HP repositions the service. Keeping it as a stub keeps the history clear. I don't intend to watchlist this article and it doesn't look as though anyone else will either. That's the bad thing about briefly-notable marketing labels: when they change, no-one goes back to tidy up. As for motivations, Tberger415 already self-identified as Todd Berger at HP. - Pointillist (talk) 14:35, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
LATEST UPDATE
editI have merged the HP Converged Cloud Page into the HP Cloud Services Page and renamed the page HP Cloud. In December 2013, HP joined the two groups into one page (see Reference from WSJ (http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2013/12/09/h-p-moves-to-capture-more-of-the-cloud/). I will be continuing to clean up this page and ensure that meets the needs of WikiPedia and is not an advertisement for HP. - ([User:Opnstk|Opnstk|talk]]) 11:21, 7 January 2014 (EST) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Opnstk (talk • contribs)

HP to be changed to HPE
editThe former HP Cloud business is after the split of the HP into HP Inc. and HP Enterprise Services (HPE) within HPE. The article should be changes accordingly.--Schaema3 (talk) 14:52, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
