My HP Pavilion 9700 lost a keyface, and I can't even say how. It was there, then it wasn't. Then, even though I followed HP's instructions, first from the call center and then with the instruction sheet that came with the FedEx box, I was shocked when the laptop came back with all the memory wiped out. For a key face! No one had warned me of that. The instruction sheet tells you to back it up before you send it, which I had, with the Vista backup function that came with the computer, but the multiple backup DVDs that had taken me a long time to make now wouldn't restore past the first one. And HP Customer Service was USELESS. It's not their problem. They didn't keep the recording of my initial call center conversation. Their fine print protects them from all responsibility and liability, the backup problem is Microsoft's (you pay), and they don't want to hear anything constructive about how this devastating situation could be helped now or prevented in the future. What I learned: HP sucks. Never again. 76.212.206.1 (talk) 02:07, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
