All the bullet pointed lists to books most Wikipedia users have never heard of seem quite unnecessary. I'm not an expert on halacha, so I don't really know how this could be rewritten, but at the very least, I'd suggest that the list of the six orders of the Mishnah and the list of the order of the Tur be removed. --GHcool (talk) 23:35, 12 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I think the purpose of an encyclopedia is to present information that was not know to its readers. That is why people come here. So I find your argument to remove these lists, that most Wikipedia readers haven't heard of them, confusing, to say the least, as the same could be said for most of the information in almost any article on Wikipedia. Alternatively, an editor willing to put some effort into it could convert this semi-list into a narrative text. The 1906 Jewish Encyclopedia has an an article on the history of codification. The Oxford Dictionary of the Jewish Religion has a more up-to-date and concise take on the subject. I can share a copy privately with someone who would like to work on that. That sounds alright with me. I don't feel comfortable spearheading that since I only have a novice understanding of halacha. --GHcool (talk) 22:55, 15 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
