Current events
I just cannot get the current events category correct! Help Please Paradiver (talk) 08:14, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- That category is added by the {{current}} template, I think, but it does not appear to apply to Halema`uma`u crater according to its guidelines; it is for "occasions that many editors (perhaps a hundred or more) edit an article on the same day, as an advisory to editors".
- The manual of style has some guidance for writing about current events. Briefly, the advice is to think about how the article will read a year from now and write it so that it won't require too much rewriting. This isn't easy for me, or for more writers, I suspect.
- It is good to see the article progress. --Walter Siegmund (talk) 11:12, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
1924 Eruptions
Since these were the last explosive eruptions in the Crater prior to this year's activity, should more information about them be added? Lots of good history at the USGS link. (I noticed the short mention under the history section, but it could definitely be expanded, especially since that episode was so well documented.) Farristry (talk) 14:29, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. It is fascinating reading. Walter Siegmund (talk) 15:51, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Image layout
The images don't help to emphasize the text, but take away from it. There is image overload here, and it is very distracting. Viriditas (talk) 03:05, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Article condition as of April 2015
The current high level of lava in the Overlook Vent merits a review here. The article needs a serious amount of updating. I've begun, but more is needed.
I've just reordered the 2008 eruption information which was presented in reverse order. Although the information is correct, there is a seven year gap to the present day that needs to be filled. The 2008 events are given too much attention in proportion to the article. Seeing as this article will be receiving more traffic, additional editor work will be welcome.
