After closure of 'özel üniversite's (private university) in Turkey we have now 'vakıf üniversitesi's, governed by 'vakif's, non-profit organizations. Turkish public still refers to them almost always as 'özel üniversite' though, possibly since they are in effect not much different from private universities. Does somebody know why the Patriarchate does not establish a vakif and open the higher education part of the Halki school? As you might now, only the higher education part was closed by Turkish authorities under that law. The high school part was closed years later due to lack of interest. Is it a laicite related rule? I remember suggestions like making the Halki school part of the Istanbul University officially. DenizTC 10:19, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thats true, but as every religion, Patriarchy wants to take a political position thats why they do not run a theological school, denying the authority of Law for YOK, they have been invited to found a university by turkish government but didnt accept, aim is political same as the scarf subject. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Doganaktas (talkcontribs) 17:50, 21 April 2008 (UTC) The Patriarchy of Constantinople doesn't want any sort of political power. That's how the pope and the Russian Patriarch goes but with the Patriarch of Constantinople he's just a spiritual leader at the end of the day. The university of Halki is an old place of tradition were many Orthodox charters studied and the current Patriarch would like to see the university reopened again however Turkey's nationalist partyes irrelevantly refuse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:2F0B:F056:E700:7890:9CE5:47E7:137C (talk) 20:24, 9 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Halki&Heybeliada

edit
  • in article, 'The Halki seminary was established on Oct 1, 1844 in Halki (Turkish: Heybeliada)'. I want to change it like this 'in heybeliada ( greek: Halki)', because english viki use heybeliada. So that heybeliada should be formal name.
  • Chalki or Halki which one is true? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ollios (talkcontribs) 11:38, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
