To split or not to split: it's driving me bananas

Surnames and given names are routinely split off from dab pages, so why not nicknames? I used to include these lists in dab pages, but then an editor strenuously objected to having Category:Lists of people by nickname there (I'm still not quite sure why, but it wasn't worth an edit war). I generally try to avoid splitting unless the original dab is really long. In this case, Hammer (disambiguation) has so many sections and entries that it makes sense to move some of them. Nick Number (talk) 13:45, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
