Requested move
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was no consensus. I will note that nobody seems to have looked into which name is more common for the airport itself. It is perfectly possibly for the most prevalent spelling of the airport to be different from the prevalent spelling of the city. But, since no one looked into it, there were no compelling arguments on either side. Aervanath (talk) 07:53, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Hannover Airport → Hanover Airport — Consistency with Hanover, which remains at Hanover. — 3247 (talk) 13:05, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Survey
edit- Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with
*'''Support'''
or*'''Oppose'''
, then sign your comment with~~~~
. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
- Oppose, if move made simply on grounds of "consistency" - English usage is not consistent. We are to reflect English usage, so we shouldn't impose consistencies which do not exist therein. Call Hannover what it is called in English language sources, and call Hannover Airport what it is called in English language sources. Knepflerle (talk) 11:48, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- Weak support. Knepferle has the principle right, but I suspect that the answer to his question is Hanover Airport, as against Flughafen Hannover. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 03:26, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hannover Airport is also an option. I also suspect that Flughafen Hannover is little used in English, but that doesn't answer the main question here. Evidence would be useful to confirm or deny our suspicions. Best, Knepflerle (talk) 10:46, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Weak Oppose. Common name status of "Hanover" vs. "Hannover" is shaky at best. If anything, perhaps Hanover should be moved to Hannover. Please note the following Google test results:
- Hanover Germany -Hannover -wikipedia 9,870 books
- Hanover Germany -Hannover -wikipedia 49,600 articles
- versus
- Hannover Germany -Hanover -wikipedia 19,400 books
- Hannover Germany -Hanover -wikipedia 127,000 articles
So rather than moving this article, maybe we should be reassessing the value of Hanover as opposed to Hannover. If we're looking for consistency, let's at least make sure we're moving things toward common names and not away from them. Wilhelm_meis (talk) 07:02, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Discussion
edit- Any additional comments:
- NB: Last time I had a look, the official site said Hannover Airport exclusively. Now it uses a mix of Hannover Airport and Hanover. *grr* — 3247 (talk) 13:05, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

How to deal with so called charter flights
editGermania operates several routes to and from Hannover on a scheduled timetable. These flights are bookable via oegertuerktur, Germanys main operator for Turkey. I do not know, why Germania is deleted every time. The argument is: Only scheduled flights are relevant. OK, but the Germania flight ARE scheduled flights, but only bookable via Oeger and not via Germania. In addition to that, Bulgarian Air Charter, Turkuaz Airlines, Tunis Air, etc do not operate scheduled flights at all, but are mentioned here. Another example is City Jet. Since many years VLM (now City Jet) operate charter flights from Hannover to jersey, every saturday. So, we should find a precise way to deal with such things. I hope, that we can discuss it first, before someone, who do not have any knowledge about the timetables at Hannover Airpot, deletes everything. Thanks for your attention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.59.32.17 (talk) 11:15, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
LCC
edit"Hannover airport has struggled to generate increased demand in recent years, possibly due to an apparent reluctance or inability to entice Europe’s low-cost carriers to serve the airport."
Is a statement like this, based on interpretation / assumption, really useful in a wikipedia article ? The airport management indeed had had a policy to treat all airlines the same, meaning that specifically Ryanair and Easyjet were not granted extra discounts when they showed interest in serving Hannover. Still I would like to delete the second half of above quote.Archie02 (talk) 18:37, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
Destinations
editTUIfly (X3) serves Sal (SID) and Boa Vista (BVC) only with connection at Gran Canaria (LPA) during winter time tables 2013/2014 and 2014/2015. During summer 2014 it is a triangular flight HAJ-BVC-SID-HAJ.
Does this make the two destinations "seasonal" ?

Haj
editHaj has redirected here since 4 October this year. At WIkipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2017 October 29#Haj I have proposed that it be retargetted back to Hajj (the alricle about the Islamic pilgrimage) where it pointed from 2008 until that date, and you are invited to contribute to the discussion. I am not proposing to change HAJ (all capitals) which also redirects here. Thryduulf (talk) 09:45, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Hannover Airport
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Hannover Airport's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "corendon":
- From Friedrichshafen Airport: corendonairlines.com - Flights from Friedrichshafen retrieved 09 August 2019
- From Frankfurt Airport: "Flights". corendonairlines.com.
I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 05:30, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
