I will change the motto to "Where dreams begin", that is more grammatically correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.10.58.102 (talk) 21:53, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

List of achievements
editThere really is no need for any of the achievements for individual students on this website. Wikipedia is not intended to be a repository for student achievements, and doing so does not improve this article. In addition, none of those achievements have any references to any sources - the only website given is a broken link. I suggest that we remove the entire section under "Achievements". - I will post this issue into the general Wikipedia helpdesk to seek advice. I am hesitant about blanking a large section without further input from others. ChunyangD (talk) 14:54, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
- It is not uncommon in Wikipedia pages of similar Vietnamese schools such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_School_for_Gifted_Students,_Hanoi_National_University_of_Education or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_School_for_Gifted_Students,_Hanoi_University_of_Science . I'm not sure where this achievement-listing pattern originated from, but I'm sure it is not done for advertisement. The school is a public school so there is little incentive for it to do self-promotion for commercial purposes. If we remove it, we might as well remove similar sections in similar pages. 138.75.51.249 (talk) 13:35, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for continuing this discussion. While this does seem common in other similar Vietnamese schools, it's unclear that this is still a reasonable thing to include on Wikipedia, as per site policies WP:NOTE and [page on how school wiki articles ought to be structured.] In addition, the another problem with this section is as follows: While there is a link for Vietnamese IMO winners, there is no information on that page about the high school that each student attends. Therefore, the information in this section is not verifiable - people reading the section cannot verify by themselves using a trusted and third-party source that the students listed in this section are indeed from this high school. It may be helpful to draw in a more experienced Wikipedia editor for advice on this, and prevent this from having more reversions. I will wait upon your response before further action. - I think perhaps we can fix that by including relevant links (eg. news articles) or annotate what is wrong with them so that others can continue to contribute rather than removing them. The page Wikipedia:College and university article advice says "For most schools this might take the form of a list of people meeting Wikipedia's notability standards (each with perhaps a very brief descriptive phrase), where such a list would not be excessively long.", which is rather flexible and subjective? Alex Song can be seen in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Phillips_Exeter_Academy_people, and it is backed by a news article. Such articles are quite common on Vietnamese media also (I am an alumni of one of those schools and personally know some of the names listed). 124.197.80.2 (talk) 23:57, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
- I have added some references and can work on it further. 124.197.80.2 (talk) 06:23, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
