editBeing educated in a Polish military school and having taken part in the Kościuszko Uprising and then the napoleonic Polish Legions and the Duchy of Warsaw army Hauke can hardly be said to switch sides during his career. As a professional soldier he stayed in the army of what became Congress Kingdom of Poland in 1815 as have many other soldiers.
