Article very short
editThis article seems awfully short for someone i regard as having found the keys to much of what ails the world. Hopefully I'll get around to filling out the stub but I encourage everyone to try to understand the few basic principles which have a huge impact on what we think we know of ourselves. Then for the few to work on the mechaniams brought to light. Apparently 10- 12 yrs ago the better members of the medical research community (?) came to agree that inflamation is at the root of most diseases of civilization. Perricone is perhaps the most public of exponents but perhaps not the best (?). Wblakesx 17:17, 14 August 2006 (UTC)wblakesx

Let someone translate in English my text in French on Hans Selye. I am, by now, out of Wikipedia in both French English.
Mess
edit- This article is an incredible mess and it has been a mess for months.--Filll 00:35, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Rambling/POV?
edit"Some commentators considered him the first to demonstrate the existence of a separate stress disease, the stress syndrome, or general adaptation syndrome (GAS).But these commentators are wrong. Selye never ever said that stress was a syndrome,a disease, or the GAS."
Who the hell wrote this? For one, it needs to get to the point. For two, it is poor writing style...this article is very brokenGumby701 (talk) 18:37, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- Never mind, someone must not like Selye, anonymous vandalism...I fixed it...but it still needs improving Gumby701 (talk) 18:41, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
I added something to improve it it, but somebody erased it.--Megaforcemedia (talk) 21:23, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Pronunciation
editI doubt, that he pronunced his name in English as it is given in the article. Is there any source to prove it? It is totally different than the way it is used in Hungarian, which is: /ʃɛjɛ/

I've always heard it pronounced the way the article states. Perhaps it should show English pronunciation and Hungarian pronunciation the way many pages do. Alistoriv (talk) 22:40, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
- Why should there be an "English" pronunciation for a Hungarian man's Hungarian name? Because English-speakers are the worst in pronouncing non-English names/words? 76.67.149.142 (talk) 18:22, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
If you can find me a language that doesn't adapt foreign names and words to its own pronunciation I will award you a million dollars. Alistoriv (talk) 16:16, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
- in Hungarian, English names are always pronounced according to the English pronunciation. Just as in other foreign languages. The only difference is if the language is not written with Latin letters, but even then we always try to keep the original pronunciation. I also speak Slovak and Czech, where the same is true. The correct pronunciation is indeed what xy describes. Since the pronunciation is incorrectly ingrained among English speakers, I suggest that Wikipedia should be a place to get the real information on pronunciation.
