Etymology
editThe suggested etymology, connecting hara with later Persian gar "mountain", is impossible, as it contradicts everything known about Iranian diachronic linguistics. The Avestan counterpart of gar is in fact known; it is gairi. In any case, Avestan initial h does not correspond to Persian g but to Persian h as in hazaŋra > hazār, etc. The suggested etymology has therefore been deleted. The derivation of ancient Avestan names from modern Ukranian is, quite frankly, crackpot pseudolinguistics that has no place in Wikipedia. The suggested etymology has therefore been deleted. 21:48, 24 October 2013 207.138.47.180 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.138.47.180 (talk)
