Couple of issues: Foulois was still a serving officer during the Babe Ruth stunt. And which 48th Infantry did he join? I'm pretty sure that it was the 48th Infantry Regiment, but you should check. No information on family life will cause this to fail for lack of completeness.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 19:38, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- I put "officer" next to Foulois during the Babe Ruth caper. I expanded the lede somewhat, listing commands. Binksternet (talk) 04:31, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm getting nowhere with the search for McClelland's family. If he married, I can't find it. Binksternet (talk) 04:49, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
<==Okay, the lead has been expanded and additional material has been added as encountered during the research for GA. I took out the incorrect link to the 48th Infantry in Georgia, as McClelland joined a different unit during its time in Virginia. I will need some guidance in answering your concern about how focused the writing is. Regarding McClelland's family—I'm at my wit's end. I have pored over documents and searched like a madman online but I can't find any reference to wife or children, or for that matter to confirmed bachelorhood or childlessness. I believe I have exhausted all the normal sources, but I don't have a single trace of family information. Binksternet (talk) 23:22, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Do you know where he died? Try for an obituary there. Or maybe the Air Force Association or the Daedelians (sp?) did an obituary on him. Try some of the online genealogy sites like rootsweb.org, etc. If you can't find anything, or confirm that he never married, etc. I'll have to fail it for completeness. The same will be true of any other biographical articles that I review, so you might want to work on those as well in case I get to them.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 23:44, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- Foulois was something like assistant commander or somesuch of the Air Corps/Service when they did that stunt. If you can't get any further info on his family I'm going to fail it for lack of completeness. You can always resubmit once you manage to find out his family situation and location of death.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 19:49, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- I found that Foulois was a major (temporary) and the commander of Mitchel Field on Long Island in July 1926. I'm going to hunt further for McClelland family. Binksternet (talk) 01:07, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have a request placed with the USAF history department to tell me whether McClelland had a family and where he died. Binksternet (talk) 15:06, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- OK, I'll put it on hold until you hear back.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 15:56, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- Contact! The Air Force History people returned with information about place of death, wife's name and names of siblings. This information allowed me to locate more about his brother who started McClelland Sound in Wichita, Kansas. The two brothers teamed up from time to time on radio projects. Anyway, I think we're there. Binksternet (talk) 16:20, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. Amazingly fast response.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 19:10, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
