The article here suggests 40000 were evacuated, after 30,000 minor earthquakes shook the region between April and June and reached its peak on 19 May when 19 earthquakes with a magnitude greater than four produced a fault rupture 8 km long and 18 inches wide.
Is that accurate? John seach who is cited in the article as saying 2289 people were evacuated is normally pretty reliable. EdwardLane (talk) 11:39, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
