editThis phrase should be deleted or replaced:
- Cold War era anti-Communist witch-hunts.
It is biased towards the idea that anti-Communism was nothing more than a witch hunt:
- a campaign against a fictious enemy; or,
- a campaign against people who are falsely portrayed as having evil powers or motives
Better to say that some historians viewed the Cold War in terms of selfish or corrupt demagogues unfairly stigmatizing innocent political activists. --Uncle Ed 16:05, 29 Sep 2004 (UTC) I removed, if only on the general grounds of NPOV, "Through his sense of fair play, advocacy of rank-and-file voting, personal incorruptibility, and international outlook, the ILWU became one of the most successful American unions today." How can that remotely be considered NPOV? My university offers a course on San Francisco, which I've sometimes taught. I'm well aware Harry Bridges is still a potent and beloved figure here in SF. But if his advocates want the General Reader to take this page at all seriously, they have to not make it look like a an old-time mimeo flier pasted on the student union. Be judicious, folks. Oct 06
Harry Bridges in multimedia
editThere's a segment of the series "Wizards of Money" (Part 17 I think. Available a number of places online in mp3 format) which deals at length with Harry Bridges and the ILWU. It has some audio clip material of him speaking.
I recommend the entire series too.

Monument to Harry
editAs the chair of the committee in charge of the Monument to Harry, and the naming of the Plaza, I made a few changes. I explained them in full but forgot to hit "save" and now I got to run. Suffice for the moment that the Lincoln Vets are not involved.

"Song for Bridges"
editI've added a note on this song from the Almanac Singers to the Trivia section. Richard Lugg (talk) 09:01, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Meaningless sentences.
editTowards the end of this entry, there are a couple of sentences that do not make sense. I'm hesitant to edit them myself, as I might change their content. Could someone who has been involved in this page read it over again and clean up the garbled sentences? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.224.118.199 (talk) 14:10, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
