FBI SIS agent during World War II?

According to this book by David Price (anthropologist), Tschopik might have been working for the United States FBI's Special Intelligence Service in Peru during World War II. If that was really the case, it seems like something worth mentioning in the article. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:43, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

To avoid an edit conflict, here is another source about the making of the documentary that was spurred by the rediscovery of Tschopik's footage of the Shipibo.

Here is a newspapers.com clipping of a local (Marin, CA) newspaper article about Tschopik. It details some of Tschopik's work and describes him as the first white man to penetrate the Upper Amazon jungles and the first white man to explore the Ucayali River. Here is the second page. We have to judge how much we want to rely on this newspaper piece, but there is a low-resolution photo that could be added under fair use. (I notice that the NYT article has one too.)

Here is an article that describes his early life and his interest in archeology in high school. It refers to some of his family as prominent Chattanooga residents, but I am still trying to determine what made them prominent. Larry Hockett (Talk) 12:22, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
