Apparently

edit

Apparently Cushing thought he had a colloid cyst (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colloid_cyst) - he told colleagues to do a post mortem on his corpse and it was found to be true!

At the time there was no imaging, so he diagnosed this brain lesion on symptoms alone.

(A neurosurgeon told me this - if anyone can be bothered to reference it and check it out, it would make a good addition to the page!)

"Greatest"

edit

I removed from the lede, the statement that Cushing "is widely regarded as the greatest neurosurgeon of the 20th century". That's quite a claim to make, and to include it, we should have multiple sources where quailfied persons refer to him as such. 2tuntony (talk) 07:03, 21 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Colloid cyst

edit

The pathologist who conducted the autopsy was Harry M. Zimmerman

The source cited for the colloid cyst findings is: Harvey Cushing, a biography. JF Fulton - 1946 - Springfield, Ill.: CC Thomas. Not sure if this is an adequate citation. JFW | T@lk 21:32, 15 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Added 10th child citation

edit

I have added a citation showing that Harvey was the 10th and youngest child of his parents. Is this sufficient to remove the flag on the Wiki bio? Irelandkm (talk) 17:04, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
