It seemed intuitive to disambiguate this with "(plant)", but less so "(animal)" for Harveya (animal). Seems symmetry in disambiguation appropriate. Happy to have a pointer to guideline, if available. ENeville (talk) 18:53, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps my note in the edit summary in the move was a bit misleading. There doesn't seem to be any specific guideline that I can find other than those found at WP:NCDAB, which mentions simplicity. Anyway, kingdom certainly works for all plant genera dabs, but perhaps not for all others. Whenever we have the unfortunate circumstances to have two genera named the same thing, it's just been common practice to dab by their unifying taxonomic clade. Disambiguating by family is a bit low on the taxonomy and there's likely not going to be more than one (plant) dab for this name. There was a discussion on this a while ago at WT:PLANTS, but I can't seem to locate it now; it centered on the unacceptable use of (genus) to dab, the consensus appearing to be that it's not descriptive enough. In the past, I've seen animal dabs such as (mollusc) — e.g. Panopea (mollusc) — since it appears that "animal" is so often synonymous with "mammal" instead of all the other animal clades out there. You may want to consider something like (moth) for the dab, e.g. Amata (moth). Cheers, Rkitko(talk)12:10, 8 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
