Reason for the Turkish name

edit

Because Haskovo has a significant Turkish minority, right? —Khoikhoi 15:17, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

The article must comply with the standard of the other Bulgarian City Articles, where only the Cyrillic name is given (e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varna, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varna, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sofia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimitrovgrad%2C_Bulgaria). There is no reason to deviate from this template and introduce Turkish spellings (and do so in bold letters). --87.118.170.11 03:20, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
This is different, because Haskovo has a large Turkish minority. How about we put it in italics? BTW, you seem to be forgetting about all the Bulgarian city articles that have the Turkish name at the top. —Khoikhoi 03:41, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
There is no reason for the Turkish name to have any more emphasis than the Bulgarian or the other ones. See the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edirne for comparison -- the Bulgarian and Greek names there are equally formatted, without putting emphasis on either one of them, or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Istanbul where the official one is put in italics. Wikipedia articles should be just sources of relevant information, not a way to push an agenda. --87.118.170.11 09:22, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
So you're satisfied with the current version of the article? —Khoikhoi 17:47, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
