86.88.105.173 What neutrality issues are you referring to? Can you clarify? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Viv an (talk • contribs) 18:34, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
- Can we please stop promoting this dude? This is an encyclopedia. 86.88.105.173 (talk) 06:56, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- 86.88.105.173 ?? May I ask again, what neutrality/clean-up/promotional issues are there? Can you provide some guidance so that the page can be improved? Viv an (talk) 18:19, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- Please read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure That goes for every account or IP 86.88.105.173 (talk) 06:58, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
@Viv an Have you read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:SELFPROMO ? Which of those articles applies in this case?
For example, the article says: "This system is seen as a step change from the traditional polygraph lie detector, which requires the subject to be wired up to a range of physiological sensors". Well, if you look in the article, the one making that claim is its inventor... https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hassan_Ugail&diff=prev&oldid=450631912 https://www.ft.com/content/8de3ee04-dd45-11e0-b4f2-00144feabdc0
"In 2011 Professor Ugail received the Maldives National Award for Innovation. He is the first and the only Maldivian to have received this award to date.[34]" The source says he won the award, but not that he was the first and only (he does brag about it on his website https://www.ugail.live/en/about-ugail). He is the only one who received this award "for innovation". Quite a few people got a National Award for many reasons over the years so saying it like this is misleading. Near the start of the article it says "He is also the first and, to date, the only Maldivian to receive a professorship in the field of Science". Being from a small island nation (which is why he is the first and only in a bunch of categories) isn't really an achievement in itself. An encyclopedia should be written in a "formal, impersonal, and dispassionate" voice, instead of copypasting the hagiography on his own site.
For the record, if you remove those kinds of templates again you will be reported. Encyclopedia's do not contain Amazon links so people can buy books... https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hassan_Ugail&diff=prev&oldid=450634445 86.88.105.173 (talk) 20:57, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
Another https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Single-purpose_account that only exists to promote mr Ugail writes stuff like https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hassan_Ugail&diff=prev&oldid=927583031 "Other than that, his research using artificial intelligence and machine learning is applicable to biometric identification such as face recognition, non-invasive human emotion analysis, lie detection as well as medical image understanding for diagnostic purposes." And then adds sources years later: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hassan_Ugail&diff=prev&oldid=1154670413
Problem is, those sources do not support those claims; they do not even contain those words. 86.88.105.173 (talk) 20:57, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
