How could the Adams possibly have been members if the club was founded after they were at Harvard?

Out of curiosity: how much less difficult is it to get into the Pudding than a typical final club? -anon

The Hasty Pudding is not longer a private club, but is now affiliated with the university so that the punch process is not traditional but part of the same diversity building, semi-meritorcratic, b.s. that the rest of Harvard has turned into in the 1900s. 70.22.238.123 00:01, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Traditional American pudding ?

Er,,,, NO. It dates from England from at least the 15th century in terms of literary references to it. This is even made clear in the wiki article to the Pudding itself.Jatrius (talk) 12:38, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Acting Awards?

Do they still bring actors and actresses from Hollywood to accept Man and Woman of the Year awards? It would be good to have a mention of that. Also more details and a list of award winners. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1000:B030:499B:70B8:B40E:6805:A1A5 (talk) 03:01, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Conan O'Brien

I removed this text from the end of the History section for several reasons:

[[Conan O'Brien]] has great disdain for the Hasty Pudding Club.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCVZIpxUEhg|title=Conan O'Brien in conversation with Harvard University President Drew Faust|last=|first=|date=|website=|publisher=|access-date=}}</ref>

First, how O'Brien feels about the club is irrelevant unless we can explain why it should matter to Wikipedia readers. Random trivia has no place in an encyclopedia just because we think it's interesting.

Second, the cited reference is a 1½-hour-long video on YouTube of a 2016 interview of O'Brien by Harvard's then-president. It is unreasonable to expect any reader to watch the whole video just to find the few seconds when O'Brien talked about the club, in order to verify that he did indeed have "great disdain" for it. At the very least, the exact time in that video when he made the statement should be included in the reference.

Third, even if he did say that, the interview was conducted before a live audience whom O'Brien obviously wanted to entertain. He is a comedian, and comments by comedians are often facetious—even if they seem to be completely serious—and a facetious comment is even less appropriate in an encyclopedia than trivia.

This text should not be restored to the article without considerable enhancement to establish its relevance and significance to the article, and without a much more reliable and objective reference to support it than the comedian's own possibly facetious comment before an audience he wanted to entertain. — 8.9.94.16 (talk) 10:41, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

"The Arena"

"... no windows or openings to the outside world ..."

How can the club's members get into it then? TooManyFingers (talk) 15:51, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
