Talk:Hawker Siddeley HS 748

Description???

edit

The first paragraph describes the 748 as "small" and "short range". When I read those words I don't immediately conjure an image of an aircraft with a 100' wingspan and a MTOW of 21,000kg with the capabililty of flying 1,700km at that weight (specs from wikipedia). I suggest these words be removed - any thoughts? It also says "was" when it is still in service. Does anyone agree that this paragraph needs a clean-up? --58.165.64.100 18:31, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

avro 748

i saw your interest on the AVRO 748 and had to ask if you have any clue on how to get the 'instruction manual ' of that plane. It's meant to be a gift to somebody that flew it. By the way i totally agree to your comments about the article.

thanks! eleoth----

Still operating? The 748 is not in the list of current operational aircraft on that Air Force’s wiki page. Boscaswell talk 10:14, 10 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I understand they have all been withdrawn from use and parked up. MilborneOne (talk) 12:47, 10 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

HS 748 Series 1A

Dan Air had to operate out of the reinstated wartime airfield at Scatsta near Sullom Voe Oil base. It was short and narrow. They fitted former srs2 engines into lightweight srs1 airframes. This extra power allowed the carriage of a full load of 44 passengers on the 2hr trip to Glasgow. If I remember correctly the registrations involved were G-ARRW , G-ARMX , G-ARMW, and G-BEKG. 82.45.72.138 (talk) 13:46, 4 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
