Talk:Haynie family murders

A slight anomaly?

edit

Haynie was charged as an adult in the 3rd District Court...As he is a juvenile... etc. How are these both true? Context, please. While we're at it, The incident was the deadliest mass shooting in Utah in thirteen years? This doesn't sound very "mass"? serial # 00:39, 20 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Under certain circumstances, a juvenile can be charged as an adult. See Should Juveniles Be Charged as Adults in the Criminal Justice System?. Also, it is generally agreed that a mass shooting is whenever four or more people are shot. WWGB (talk) 04:41, 20 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Colin Haynie → ? – CJ Haynie is currently charged with the murders of four members of his family and other crimes. Per WP:PERP the article shouldn't have been named after him in the first place as "Editors must give serious consideration to not creating an article on an alleged perpetrator when no conviction is yet secured." The article has little biographical info on him. Haynie isn't notable before the deaths or after. Article should be renamed to whatever the WP:COMMONNAME is. This is not a deletion discussion. This is a move discussion. Please focus your comments on the most appropriate Wikipedia article title per sourcing. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:13, 19 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
I wasn't asking for deletion, I was asking for the article to be renamed away from Colin Haynie. The event doesn't seem to have a consistent name in the sources so Grantsville shooting seems to be appropriate. Dougal18 (talk) 17:00, 19 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
