Picture

Is there a picture of the original 6-story facade? I think that would go well with this article. Fieari 03:41, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

A quick google image search for hearst tower base brought up an old black and white picture of the original building. I've never dealt with images on wikipedia and have no idea if it could be included in the article; if anybody wants to make that deduction while I figure it out for myself, go right ahead (a note on your conclusions would be appreicated) -seliopou 14:42, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

Diagrid

Anyone want to make a diagrid article and reseach a little into it? Sounds like something that should be included in wikipedia.

POV tag

I feel like a dolt slapping a bunch of tags onto this page, but it has problems. It really doesn't seem compatible with what I've read or heard of the Hearst tower. Though it same architect as the Gherkin, I've never thought the resemblance was particularly strong – certainly, they look more different than, say, the Seagram Building and IBM Plaza. Second, the criticism seems one sided and desperately lacks citations – for example, Nicolai Ouroussoff's commentary for the Times was quite positive ([1] if you have access). Incidentally, this review is scathing of the Time Warner Center, which has quite a positive article. –Joke 20:23, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Request for clarification

Could someone explain what this means:

Overall, the building has been designed to use 25% less energy than the minimum requirements for the city of New York

I get the gist of what it's communicating (the building's efficient), but what are the requirements it's referring to? It reads a if the building violates the minimum energy usage requirements for NYC, which I doubt was the intention. Luatha 02:52, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

That it does. I agree. I was just about to post the same comment. Should this not read, perhaps, something like "20% less energy than the maximum limits for structures in the city of New York"? LordAmeth (talk) 19:58, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

first green building in New York City

This is not true, as the Solaire in Battery Park is equally green and rented out before Hearst Tower was complete. Another green tower completed before the Hearst construction started was 4 Times Square. These two examples are just a couple of a number of other buildings that can be said to be green in NYC before this building. It may be the first LEED-NC Gold certified, but that would need to be verified. Either way the "first" should be cleaned up.ArchEcologist (talk) 05:21, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Cost of construction
