Is it just me, or does the article in fact define heat capacity, rather than heat capacity rate?
Compare "the ability of a fluid to resist change in temperature as heat transfer occurs" (from the article)
against "a measure of the amount of heat a flowing fluid can release or absorb per unit time, given a unit change in temperature" (http://www.newmars.com/wiki/index.php/Specific_heat_and_heat_capacity)
I'm unqualified to change the page myself, (I'm still learning about the topic), but from what I've gathered elsewhere the article appears to be factually inaccurate. Perhaps somebody with more knowledge on the subject could clear this up? Napalm Llama (talk) 13:43, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

The two definitions you gave are identical in meaning, just that the current entry is not as explicit. I'll change the wording around a bit and change some other minor errors on the page. Pete Rolph (talk) 23:18, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I found this article to be very poorly written and yes confusing to read! IMHO It needs a complete rewrite. As I read it, this heat capacity rate relates to the specific heat capacity of a fluid to the mass rate of change of flow of that fluid? But I'm unsure of the case when the two fluids are not the same substance. Must not the heat capacity of the second fluid play a role? I'll try reading this again and see of some simple editing may fix it. I hate rewriting someone else's work. Sam 7 iam (talk) 08:39, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Having reread the article I think I understand what the author was trying to convey. But to seriously improve this article requires a substantial rewrite, a task I'm reluctant to undertake.

As a suggestion, begin with the mathematical definition of heat capacity rate, and each variable, immediately followed by a more verbose worded description. Then a brief discussion of utility . Proper links to the various subjects should be active. Oh and ' Basis ' is an odd heading. I'd suggest, Theoretical, instead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sam 7 iam (talkcontribs) 09:54, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
