– First black French MP in 1898, and several related martiniquais socialist bios, article sources all in French. The original creator of this set of pages, User Gazelle, evidently tried to copy French names from French Assembly Website but missed some of them. Under normal circumstances would consider these totally uncontroversial moves per WP:MOVE and WP:UE "If this happens, follow the conventions of the language in which this entity is most often talked about (German for German politicians, Turkish for Turkish rivers..)" In ictu oculi (talk) 11:08, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
...reason for putting them through RM is that there have been attempts to remove WP:MOSPN "Foreign proper names written in languages which use the Latin alphabet often include characters with diacritics, ligatures and others that are not commonly used in modern English. Wikipedia normally retains these special characters, except where there is a well-established English spelling that replaces them with English standard letters.", not that that is the only guideline supporting use of reliable orthographic sources, and at the request of User GoodDay, here they are... - Oppose, as this is the English language Wikipedia & there's no diacritics in the English alphabet. GoodDay (talk) 12:29, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support, as this is the English language Wikipedia & there are diacritics in the English alphabet. — AjaxSmack 05:49, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support, as the article actually is written in English, the sources obviously support the spelling, there are English words with diacritics, and neither the English language nor the English language Wikipedia need any "protection" from them. HandsomeFella (talk) 14:18, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support per In ictu oculi especially per UE which says to follow the conventions of the language in which the entity is most often talked about. -DJSasso (talk) 14:35, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support, cases like these — relatively obscure (in English at least) historical figures — ought to be uncontroversial even to diacritic-avoiders. The e-acute-accent at the end of a word is especially important for pronunciation in French. -- P.T. Aufrette (talk) 15:58, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. mgeo talk 10:57, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
