Talk:Heidegger (disambiguation)

(Bad Dab?)

A disambiguation page? Seriously? Martin Heidegger is one of the most important philosophers of the 20th century, and Heidegger of Final Fantasy 7 is a character in a video game. This is a travesty.

The "X" heading functions as a target for a short-as-possible link, w/in a cramped edit summary, to the following subsection:--Jerzyt 07:02, 10 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cleaning up a mess i created

edit

The mess in question is in the edit history of the accompanying Dab page, and to clean it up i created a dummy edit within that edit history, which is date/time-stamped 06:01, 10 November 2009, and reads

(Dummy ed:re my TBdel'd15:05 rev'n y'dy,ref WT:MOSDAB#Heidegger. It rvt'dUser:Skomorokh's 14Dec'08 o'writ ofUser:Shentino's 13th. Seetalk:Heidegger (disambiguation)#X)

It was severely compressed (lest the summary be truncated in the history), but it means:

I made a dummy edit (i.e., one which creates a summary without changing the rendering of the page it applies to).
Its purpose concerns the revision, which is To Be deleted from the edit history (by me, Real Soon) and which i made at 15:05, yesterday, 9 November 2009; because it will be deleted, i need to accessibly restate some information in its edit summary.
That TBD revision related to the discussion at Wikipedia talk:MOSDAB#Heidegger.
The TBD revision by me had the effect of reverting an edit by User:Skomorokh (at 04:30) on 14 December 2008, which had overwritten User:Shentino's edit (at 23:16) the previous day, 13 December 2008.
And (as most readers of this page by now realize) i intend readers of that dummy edit's summary to come to this section of this talk page if confused.

The reason for the deletion of that revision is its edit summary:

I linked from the summary to "WPT:MoSDab", recalling that there is an alias for the Wikipedia-talk namespace, and i think logically, yet clumsily, recalling it as adding the letter T to the alias for the Wikipedia (WP) one, i committed myself getting fellow editors to the discussion of my reasoning for the edit by using this false alias. (Yes, i did preview, but i assumed my link was a red link because of the casing of what follows the colon, when in fact "WT" is the one and only alias for that namespace.) I proceeded to create a suitably targeted Rdr at WPT:MoSDab, only to have an alert colleague point out that it was not a via-alias Rdr, but a cross-namespace one, and thus substantially deprecated. Our discussion ended with my promise to fix the mess i had made, and the summary i just expanded here should get most ed-history-reading colleagues to that discussion; while this discuss is unlikely to be needed to accomplish that, IMO a decent respect for the integrity of the edit history means such a deletion of a revision should be accompanied with enuf explanation to fairly well rule out nefarious tampering with the history.
I think that covers the subject; ask me, if it doesn't make sense, and i'll add to this accordingly.
