Todtenfeier

edit

The magazine Music, volume 19 (google full-view link, PDF can also be downloaded), November 1900-April 1901 volume, February 1901 issue, p. 441, notes a memorial concert given in Strassburg for Herzogenberg, in which Todtenfeier was performed and notes that it, in turn, may have been a memorial for the composer's wife. Is it known whether there is any documentary evidence for the latter "may have been"? Thanks (admittedly much preface for not much question :) ) - Schissel | Sound the Note! 13:06, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Malcolm MacDonald's Brahms (London, 1990), p.378, footnote 32 states "... Herzogenberg commemorated his wife in his own cantata, Totenfeier." [sic?] Cenedi (talk) 19:22, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
